At drinktec 2013, with the GSI 75, GEA Westfalia Separator Group presented a new separator in the medium performance range for clarifying beer, wine and fruit juices. As such, GEA Westfalia Separator Group is now making the successful principle of the integrated GEA Westfalia Separator directdrive with all its advantages in energy-saving drive and machine technology available for outputs of up to 250 hectolitres per hour: the bowl is driven directly by an integrated, frequency-controlled, three-phase motor and is infinitely adjustable. Thanks to the improved level of efficiency, this drive ensures significant energy savings. Moreover, the directdrive reduces the space required for the separator by 35 percent.
Exceptionally maintenance-friendly drive concept
Furthermore, the drive concept has proved to be exceptionally maintenance-friendly: the machine no longer requires motor bearings, so lubrication is not needed and the demand for spare parts is lower. Likewise, no mechanical seals are needed. Because of the design as a very robust, asynchronous motor for maximum machine reliability, standard frequency converters can be used, which are more cost-effective and internationally available. Here, the water cooled motor works considerably more quietly than an air-cooled equivalent.
Hydrohermetic design for top-class quality
To discharge solids, the bowl is opened and closed hydraulically with the aid of water. The feed and discharge take place in a closed system and are configured individually according to the application. The product feed and discharge in the bowl are sealed hydrohermetically and not with mechanical seals. This hydrohermetic feed and discharge system on the GSI 75 ensures gentle and foam-free product handling and moreover prevents oxygen absorption, thus ensuring first-class product quality. With its self-cleaning bowl, the machine is also suitable for fully automatic CIP cleaning.
As such, the GSI 75 is the innovative complete package for a new beverage separator, combining high process performance in terms of clarification efficiency and maximum yield with a standard of machine technology that guarantees low energy consumption, easy maintenance and low space requirements – and is now also available for the medium performance range.
