Absolute Machine Tools is offering the TMT-2000T3Y2 turning center from Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Ltd. Engineered to turn high-volume complex parts from bar stock, the machine features a 20 HP main spindle, 25 HP sub-spindle and three servo-driven turrets (two upper and one lower), with BMT-65 live tools. Workpiece capacity dimensions include swing over the machine bed/front cover of 28.3" (1,415 mm), swing over the carriage of 12.2" (305 mm) and maximum turning diameter of 12.6" (315 mm).
The main 20 HP, 4,500 RPM spindle can accommodate 2.5" (65 mm) diameter bar stock while the 25 HP 6,000 RPM synchronous sub-spindle can handle bars of 2" (51 mm) diameter. Both spindles feature a full contouring C-axis. To help maximize rigidity and accuracy, both spindles employ precision double-row roller bearings in conjunction with angular contact ball bearings.
The machine's three 12-station bi-directional servo-driven BMT live turrets provide 0.3 second indexing as well as coolant-through tool holders. Each turret has a 7.5 HP, 6,000 RPM spindle motor for live tools. The Y-axis on both upper turrets provides turret movement for complex off-center milling functions.
The machine's mono-block cast 75° slant bed is designed to maximize rigidity and enhance machine accuracy. The configuration is designed to permit free flow of chips directly into the chip conveyor as well as easy access to the spindles and turret, simplifying set-up processes. The frame design is also intended to allow the X and Y axes to be perpendicular to each other, providing true linear positioning and facilitating simplified programming and machine alignment.
To help ensure precision and thermal stability, the headstock, sub-spindle and saddles are all mounted on the same plane. The double nut type ballscrews are pretensioned to help eliminate thermal growth. Resulting positioning accuracy is +/- 0.0002" (0.05 mm) and repeatability is +/- 0.0001" (0.0025 mm). Roller-type linear ways of 1.8" (45 mm) diameter in all axes enable permit high rapid traverse rates.
