Using Focus-Variation technology, a non-contact optical measuring system developed by Alicona, the InfiniteFocus SL scans over a surface and captures a full 3D model of the surface being measured.
This 3D model then provides both the measurement data and 3D model for future reference and the data is also stored in a user defined database for record and comparison purposes.
The system can be used to measure either line or area-based surface finish and as the measurement process is non-contact it can be used without fear of damage to critical or softer surfaces where a tactile system may cause scratching, distortion or deformation. The InfiniteFocus SL also allows measurement of features such as small radii, complex forms and geometry.
A high vertical resolution and long working distance allows measurement of features from millimetres down to sub-micron levels with an X-Y range of up to 50mm by 50mm.
The robust technology of Focus-Variation delivers stable and traceable results in a near production environment. According to Alicona, the InfiniteFocus SL is the only optical system that will provide traceable roughness measurement. Results are obtained within 20 seconds and no pre-treatment of the surface is required.
Offering simplicity of use with user defined procedures being stored for rapid selection by the operator, comparative operation against a master or CAD model facilitates high levels of quality assurance in a practical format.
InfiniteFocus SL systems are currently in use with many manufacturing companies where they have provided a sustainable platform for improving the quality of component parts. |
