The Rolls Royce Naval Marine Foundry, Pascagoula, Miss., recently purchased a 50-ton capacity ladle to assist in the pouring of nickel-aluminum bronze propellers.
The ladle, provided by Acetarc Engineering, Keighley, U.K., has several specific features that were included at the request of Rolls Royce. The details of the design were finalized following a visit by Rolls Royce personnel to the supplier’s factory.
The ladle is the largest the supplier has sold to a U.S. metalcasting facility. Shipping of the ladle was arranged by Rolls Royce Naval Marine Foundry, which produces propellers specifically for the U.S. Navy.
